Evelyn Mostrom · CC0 Your trails, drawn from your own data.
Nobody knows your sections like you do — so nobody else should be the one to publish them. Hand us your GIS and your hikes, and we will put them on every phone that walks them, offline, for free.
OurHike is a beta, and you should treat it as one. Your data stays yours, every section you publish is dated and reversible, and if this project ever goes away the map and the tooling are open source — you fork it and keep going. That is the promise Avenza's shutdown taught us to make in writing.
Four reasons orgs register
Everything below is true on the day you finish. None of it asks you to change how you already work.
Beautiful maps,
free to every hiker
Your sections drawn from your own geometry, with your own blaze colours, working with no bars and no data plan.
Crowd-source
trail problems
A blowdown reported at noon reaches the maintainer who covers that mile — not a generic inbox.
Every hiker learns
about volunteering
Your workdays appear where hikers already look — engage more volunteers, more frequently.
Members and donations
reach you directly
The money goes to trail organizations, not a VC-backed tech company. OurHike is maintained by volunteers and keeps nothing beyond what running it costs — we publish the whole split, payment fees included, before we ever ask you to opt in.
Central Park Throughikers
Want to see what your own pages would look like before you type anything? We keep a demo org on Central Park — six routes, 13.8 miles, 29 invented volunteers. Poke at all of it; nothing you do there matters.

Registering takes five minutes today. Three stages follow it, and any of your admins can pick up any of them — nothing expires. After sign-off your trails are live, and the volunteer work carries on from there.
- THE ON-RAMP · TODAY
Register the org
Your web address, three admins, and where your giving pages live. About five minutes.
- STAGE 1 · A DAY OR TWO
Admins approve
Each of the three says yes by email. Whoever answers first picks up the registry.
- STAGE 2 · THE LONG CLIMB
The hike registry
Your GIS sections and featured hikes, read with you. An afternoon if your files are tidy.
- STAGE 3 · SIGN-OFF
All three confirm it
Your admins read the registry line by line. When they agree it publishes — and onboarding is done.
- THEN · ONGOING
Your volunteers
Roles, coverage, your roster and their welcome emails. Not a stage to finish — the work the tool exists for.
Register your org
Sign in first. Registering names you as this organization's first admin, so we need to know who you are before the form means anything. Sign in to continue Signed in as · switch account
Not here for your own org?
Two other ways in — both take about five minutes, and neither needs you to speak for anybody.
A club you hike with isn't here
Give us their website and we go looking for their trail data. You submit it; they take it over whenever they are ready.
Submit their trails →Your org is already on here
Somebody may have submitted your trails already. If you have an email at your org's domain, that is enough to take it over.
